Learn how the City of Wichita assists individuals who request the para-transit bus to come to their curb. This is an important benefit to those who want to continue to live independently while receiving transportation assistance.
Apply whole-person, function-based clinical reasoning outside of a traditional clinical setting. Students would assist with structured mobility assessments that evaluate balance, endurance, gait, and safety as they relate to a person’s ability to independently use fixed-route public transportation. The focus is on functional ability and real-world impact—connecting structure, function, and environment in a meaningful way.
Students would also have opportunities to participate in client interviews, review medical documentation, and see how clinical findings translate into eligibility decisions that directly affect access to healthcare and daily life. It’s a unique way to reinforce osteopathic principles while gaining exposure to social determinants of health and community systems.
Pizza lunch provided.
